Maudella 5699 dress with pockets

I love Maudella patterns. They were a British company started in the 1930s and ran up to 1980s . I think their heyday was the 1960s - 1970s though.

As usual this one is a cracker. It's a fairly simply shift dress with a high neck and sleeves but the great thing on this are the pockets. What's not to love about pockets and these have a great top stitch detail (excuse the poor workmanship!).

Maudella is great as their instructions are pretty comprehensive for the time - lots of pictures and techniques actually spelled out. Great for beginners in vintage patterns.

They are easily available in the UK from ebay and are pretty reasonable for vintage. You can usually pick them up for less than £5.

I wear this quite often to work as it's smart, comfortable and I can put my work pass in my pocket.

Should have breathed in more!
